Just like its long-running predecessor, the Model T, Fords robust and reliable Model A was a highly adaptable, basic design that proved to be an excellent platform on which to construct utilitarian but very handsome wood-bodied station wagons and depot hacks.¯ Ford did not yet manufacture its own wooden bodies for the Model A, and consequently, all wagons came from a  number of outside suppliers. One alternative was the commercial huckster¯ body with a large cargo area at the rear. The huckster¯ was useful for many utilitarian applications, and restored survivors continue to remain popular among early Ford collectors today. Other Model A attributes included very attractive Edsel Ford-directed styling, with many Lincoln-inspired design cues leading to the Baby Lincoln¯ nickname.
